Squatters - Prevention is Better than the Cure!
Latest news regarding your empty property here in Tenerife. If your property is empty, and you do not have a connected alarm system, then the police will not help you as if you have squatters move in.

Squatters are not a matter for the insurance company until the squatters have been removed and damage can be assessed. This is a civil/criminal matter and can be very expensive to move them on.
In a practical case, if you leave your property and go on holiday for longer than 3 days, the squatters have the right to stay there, and to get them out, you need to make a "denuncia", involve a lawyer and wait for the outcome of the court case.
This can take several years.
