From what we have been able to establish those who lost money on their sale (I.e) those whose sale price was lower than their purchase price, who paid more than 2000 euros after 2013 are eligible to claim. Watch this space for further information as and when we receive it.

What is the Plusvalia tax?

- The Plusvalia tax is the tax paid on the increase in value of the land on which your property is located between your date of purchase and date of sale. This is determined by your local townhall / municipality and each townhall has their own "Coeficiente" which is a percentage increase per annum. It is a form of capital gains tax which is determined by the local town hall - not by the purchase and sale price of your property in Spain. When selling your property, your agent should apply to the townhall to find out how much Plusvalía is due before you agree on a sale price.
